Events - Hearts & Healing: Scent Heart Demonstration - Why Scent Hearts Matter
Research shows that a premature baby can recognize and respond to their parent’s scent. Scent hearts are small, handmade fabric hearts worn against a parent’s skin and then placed near their baby in the NICU. They help: Promote physiological stability Support bonding during times of separation Complement kangaroo care practices Encourage parent involvement in NICU care Provide comfort during critical developmental stages Scent hearts work hand-in-hand with kangaroo care — the skin-to-skin contact that supports brain development, emotional connection, and healing. When parents can’t be physically present every moment, scent becomes a bridge. Because bonding is not optional in the NICU. It is essential.

Events - Tennis for Tiny Miracles - An Evening That Makes a Difference
This Pro-Am event brings together professional players and amateur enthusiasts for fun, fast-paced tennis — all while supporting Newborn Hope and the premature community. The evening kicks off at 6:00 PM with a Youth Skills Camp, open to all ages 18 and under and all skill levels. Young players will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and be inspired by some of the best pros in the city — while discovering how giving back can start early. At 7:00 PM, the Tennis Pro-Am begins, featuring round-robin play and exciting tie-breakers. Amateur players will compete alongside professional players in a high-energy, supportive environment designed to celebrate skill, sportsmanship, and community. Whether you’re on the court or cheering from the sidelines, your participation helps bring hope to families navigating the challenges of prematurity.

On this global day of giving we ask for your help in raising $5,000 to further our mission and develop our programs to reach the most families we can! Our goal is to increase the amount of grants for our Preemie Family Assistance Fund, serve families and healthcare professionals by providing collaborative resources, community grants, and growing our fundraising events.

Kangaroo Care was born not in a research lab, but out of necessity—in a crowded hospital in Bogotá, Colombia in the late 1970s. Dr. Edgar Rey Sanabria and Dr. Héctor Martínez at San Juan de Dios Hospital were facing a critical shortage of incubators amidst a growing number of preterm births. Many newborns didn’t survive due to lack of proper thermal regulation and bonding.
